Small Bathroom with Dark and Light Color Contrast
This featured bathroom shows the effectiveness of a dark light color contrast. In this case the dark is navy blue and the light is white. The floor is an in between shade of “dark white” or light grey, and except for that the dominant color is navy blue.
Every wall of this smaller bathroom and the outside of the clawfoot tub are the same navy blue.
The tub itself (by which I mean the inside), the pedestal sink, the medicine cabinet/mirror, the window frame, the ceiling, the shower curtain and the towels are all white. To pull the look together the shower curtain has a navy blue stripe that runs around near the edit.
The chrome faucet and shower fixtures complete the contrast and accentuate the shininess of the white.
This works because of the extreme color contrast, which the human eye tends to find very pleasing.
If the homeowner decides they want a brighter bathroom in the future, changing from navy blue to a lighter color (beige, tan, a peach tone perhaps) will be a relatively small effort.
The paint on the outside of the tub is probably a spray on enamel so a tub refinishing company would need to do that part (I estimate the cost at around $800 to $1,000) and the rest is simply a matter of a good quality primer (needed all the time but especially when you’re covering a dark color with a light color) and two coats of paint.
