Japanese Style Bathroom Finished in Glass and Wood
Although I generally recommend people avoid wood floors in bathrooms (bamboo being the exception to this rule as it has natural water resistant properties) I absolutely love this bathroom.
The shower enclosure is large and is paired with a large soaking tub.
The floor and the countertop are made of wood which ordinarily I view as too high maintenance for bathrooms, but for this bathroom I am making an exception.
The color contrast of the light colored wood (those look like fir 2x4s) floor and countertop combined with the white toilet, soaking tub, and sink, and matched to the expansive glass and chrome fixtures and the white marble walls gives this bathroom the look and feel of your own private spa.
Imagine the feeling of starting and ending your day in a bathroom like this.
The only drawback I can see (and I feel silly even implying this bathroom has drawbacks) is the absence of natural light. However that is easily solved by installing two or three solar tubes to bring natural light in from the outside.
The wood flooring also provides a nice touch of “earth tones” which always (perhaps it sounds silly, but it’s true) gives us a familiar comfortable feeling.
