High Color Contrast 1940s Bathroom
I hope this comment doesn’t sound negative, but it’s hard for me to believe that we (a collective we) once found this decor and color scheme desirable. I find that shade of pink contrasted with that navy blue and grey to rather hard on the eyes.
We ourselves had a customer in Santa Clara maybe four years ago who had pink fixtures and needed a new pink toilet. It was hard to find and when we eventually did it was pricey.
I would love to say how this color contrast works, but it doesn’t, at least for me. I’m sorry.
If the “anchor color” of pink was a more earth tone brown or tan it would help some, but that pink is too bright for my taste.
The one detail I find fascinating about this bathroom is the little “mini me” sink to the right of the main sink.
For a brief period during the 1940s, bathrooms were installed with a tooth brushing sink or spit sink (this is true, Google it to see) and as that duplication of function is not really good use of space, this practice was short lived, but I hear the odd hours that still has a 1940s bathroom has one.
If I bought a house with this bathroom I would feel a strong compulsion to gut it and re-start from the studs and the subfloor.
Having said that I know some of you will disagree and that’s fine, but as having stated earlier finding replacement fixtures in pink when and as needed can be tough.
