Master bathroom with a spa like home steam shower
This featured bathroom includes a spa like home steam shower.
Even without the steam shower this is a very well designed and built master bathroom. The main color contrast is between the darker floor and the white walls and white tub.
Incorporating a wall mount vanity/sink and wall mount storage shelves keeps those things off the floor which creates a greater sense of space in the room. The large window by the tub creates a more tranquil place for a relaxing hot soak as well as lets in more natural light, which is always a good thing (per me).
The steam shower (along with the electric towel warmer) are the ultimate icing on the proverbially cake.
Once upon a time a room you stayed in that filled with steam was called a steam bath. When they became available to home installation the best place to fit then was into shower enclosures, thereby doubling the use of the shower space. For this reason they are now called steam showers.
In summary, hidden away somewhere is a steam generator that creates steam and releases it into the shower area.
What are the main differences between showers and steam showers (besides the obvious presence or absence of steam)?
Steam showers have to be completely sealed. The glass enclosure goes all the way up to the ceiling everywhere.
Steam showers also have to be much more moisture proof than showers. The steam can not be allowed to escape into any of the building cavities.
Although this next part may not be intuitive, steam showers also require sloped ceilings. The steam rises, condenses, forms into drops, and falls. The last thing you want while enjoying your steam shower is for drops of cold water to fall on you. For that reason ceilings are slopped so the drops all flow to the wall before coming down.
