While it’s true that installing ceramic tile or natural stone tile during your bathroom remodel is nothing new, there are some one fairly interesting trend I think merits mention.
It has to do with colors.
I’ll describe the trend as “if it’s glued down, use neutral colors”.
The idea is sound. You can later completely change the look and feel of your bathroom by changing the color of items that are fairly easy to change.
This means the following items are to be in neutral colors:’
- The floor
- The tub
- The shower
- The vanity
- The counter
While things are can be changed without extreme effort or cost can be whatever color you want:
- The toilet
- The paint
- The towels, shower curtain (if you have one), and window coverings
Looking at the picture below, you get an idea of the general concept.
When you decide later it’s time to change the overall look and feel of the bathroom it will be fairly easy to change the paint on the upper wall, the paint on the lower wall, the shower curtain, and the towel, and these fairly minor changes will have a dramatic impact on the 0verall tone of the bathroom.
However the flooring, the vanity, and the countertop will remain unchanged through the entire process.
To summarize, the useful trend in bathroom tile and stone flooring is the use of neutral colors. Natural stone lends itself to this due to its natural coloring and with ceramic tile you have almost unlimited color choices.
