What is the new modern trend with ambient lighting for bathroom remodel projects in Santa Clara?
It’s actually not new. It’s the oldest form of lighting there is.
We call it “natural light“, and basically it means to let the natural sun light into your bathroom.
There are (at least) three ways to achieve this:
Windows, big windows
Does your bathroom have an outside wall? Is there enough space on that wall to install a big window? If so, go for it.
Do not forget however this is a bathroom and people walk around nude in there, so ensure you get opaque glass in your window to ensure people can’t see too much if they do happen to see the windows.
Skylights in bathroom? Definitely! Some bathrooms have only one narrow exterior wall where putting in a large window is not practical, and a skylight can really do the job in these rooms.
An additional benefit of skylights is they open, so on very hot days you can open to help the hot air in your home rise to the outside and keep your home cooler.
If neither a big window nor a skylight is practical for whatever reason, you can still bring in natural light via what is called a solar tube. What it is and how it works is shown in the picture.
It is literally a tub of reflective material where a light capture lens on your roof, which brings the light through the tub onto the light diffusion lens on your bathroom ceiling.
They work great! If you have a large bathroom, consider installing two.
