On the spectrum of finishes, high gloss is the maximum sheen and the maximum reflectiveness.
High gloss paint is very very high sheen and very very reflective.
Although it is the easiest to clean, it shows every little imperfection in your walls and when you need to do a touch up, it’s hard to fully blend it in so it doesn’t show.
For your bathroom, high gloss paint is really only good for things you want to strongly accent, and only if those things are not touched often (high gloss paint shows fingerprints really well).
It’s also harder to apply than lower sheen paint, as every little imperfection, such as brush marks, show through.
I saw one bathroom that had a bookshelf high up on one wall (every bathroom needs reading material) and the book shelf was painted with a high gloss paint to very good effect.
Another effective, but difficult application was someone who used a high gloss paint to a bright red strip around the top of their wall.
It did add a nice accent to their light blue walls, but masking to get a thin straight line takes time and patience.
