When you are ready to remodel your kitchen you need ideas. You have a similar set of issues to consider no matter where you live. What does matter greatly are the individual needs of you and your family.
How will your family use the kitchen?
One of my core beliefs is in function before form, which doesn’t diminish the value of materials, colors, patterns, etc, but when things in the kitchen are placed badly, not amount of aesthetics will overcome that.
Ask yourself a series of questions, and consider working with a designer who is willing to do small consultative projects.
Is the workflow right?
Are the right appliances in the right places?
Are you an “eat at the counter” family?
Do you need one big open great room layout for meal prep and living?
While you prepare dinner do you need to keep an eyes on the kids and their homework?
I suggest that after, and only after you have answered this “how to use the room” question, should you move on to the questions of materials, colors, and patterns.
As I always say, a little planning up front eliminates a heap of heartache later.
