Melamine Kitchen Cabinets
As you can see from the picture it looks great.
The biggest difference is durability. Melamine is similar to laminate in that both are less durable than solid stained wood.
The biggest caveat of using melamine is it is usually applied on particle board and if a little water seeps into an opening (a little nick, a piece that has peeled up just a little) then the particle board swells.
For that reason, if you find cabinets that are melamine on plywood, they will definitely (or at least most likely) last longer.
As with laminate, the big advantage to melamine cabinets is that they are less expensive than cabinets with solid wood doors and drawer fronts. Melamine is also an incredibly easy to clean surface.
Just don’t get the fake wood finish. Although it sort of looks like wood, it won’t actually fool anybody. It just looks cheap.
