Spacious Kitchen with Brown Beige Color Contrasts
I’ve read that all we know is contrast (for what it’s worth it’s in The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas), and while it’s a good line, it’s also true.
In this featured kitchen the dark brown of the island cabinet stands out precisely because it (and the oil rubbed bronze pendant light fixtures above the island) stand in contrast to the much lighter colors of the rest of the kitchen.
The floor is a patchwork of white and shades of very light brown. The countertops and the cabinets against the walls are a similar shade of beige (sort of a desert sand color) while the ceiling is white.
This creates a visually appealing effect for the stainless steel appliances to fit into.
In this kitchen, white appliance might work, but the stainless is a nice finish that is in between the light of the wall cabinets and the dark of the island cabinet.
It’s safe to say the designer of this kitchen is well versed in the ways different colors complement each other.
The ambient lighting is very good, which helps accentuate the differences between differed light shades. In this case the counters and the wall cabinets against the lighter shades of the flooring.
This ambient lighting is provided by recessed cans in the ceiling as well as natural light that enters through the door and windows on the far wall.
