Large Curved Great Room Bar that Seats Five
The defining characteristic of this great room style kitchen is the very large curved bar the comfortably seats five and ends at a log that is part of the room decor.
The flooring and the cabinets are made of wood that intentionally looks rough (although it isn’t) and the cabinet panels show knots clearly, which is part of the look.
Let’s call the color of the cabinets pine (although cabinets are rarely made of pine as it’s a soft wood).
The other colors in the kitchen complement the base colors well. The countertops are are a mostly white granite with splashes of brown and black. The appliances are stainless steel. The tile back splash wall is made from smaller light beige earth tone colors with a darker accent strip running the length of the kitchen wall.
There is even a log adhered to the wall as part of the decor of this kitchen.
The walls above the upper cabinets also participate in the color contrast by virtue of being painted a light beige, lighter than the back splash tiles and the cabinets, but lighter than the white of the ceiling.
The ambient light is provided by several recessed can lights in the ceilings and the five pendant light fixtures over the bar provide task lighting at the bar. Task lighting for the countertops that run around the walls of the room are provided by under counter lights.
When planning your kitchen remodel, do not neglect the lighting. As we get a little older, we appreciate focused task lighting more.
