When it comes to successful bathroom remodeling, nothing beats good planning and good design.
But how do you know what to plan for when you’ve never done one before? How do you help ensure your bathroom remodeling project produces your desired outcome and doesn’t become a “lessons learned” case study?
The Solera Group provides expert bathroom remodeling services in the greater San Jose metro area.
Ask A LOT of questions
If you don’t know things, ask. If you’re not yet sure what to ask, start doing research and start writing down questions you do know.
When you’re feeling overwhelmed or frustrated, change your state of my by starting sentences with “I wonder….”.
Your contractor is your service provider, not your friend
By no means am I saying not to be friendly with your contractor (geez, I am one) but never forget you are entering or have entered into a business arrangement. He (sometimes she) provides you with contracted services and you in turn provide the money. Never feel you should not ask what’s going on, how things are going, or more specific questions such as why the project appears to be behind schedule.
Your relationship with your contractor is business, not pleasure.
Assume you’re not the expert and seek expert advise
When starting any remodel project, ask yourself the following questions:
- What do I know about this process and what do I not know?
- What am I thinking that may be wrong?
- What assumptions have I made that may not be reasonable?
- How and where do I get good answers?
Curiosity is a very good place to start any project and when it starts your planning process you may be surprised how much you’ll learn.
