Low Cost Kitchen Finished in Light Colors
The functional use of a kitchen is primarily determined by the floor plan layout.
The aesthetic aspect of a kitchen is primarily determined by the materials, the colors, and the finishes (shiny vs dull vs in between).
In terms of layout there is access to this kitchen from both the home’s entrance call as well as the family/great room on the other end. The kitchen is long and there is ample space between the outside cabinets and the kitchen island for two or maybe even three people to prep and cook together.
The kitchen island bar is a great place for quick meals or supervised activities (for example, kids doing homework while you prepare their dinner).
In terms of aesthetics the designer and contractor did a great job. The dominate color is brown. The flooring is light wood, the cabinets are oak, and the walls are painted beige. This pattern of colors works well with the stainless steel appliances.
Completing the complementary colors is the black countertops against the white ceiling, accented with the white electrical outlets and switches. Those two extremes of the color spectrum “anchor” the colors of the rest of the kitchen.
The ample lighting helps show the contrast between the similar primary colors (the browns) with ambient lighting being provided by the recessed can lights and the window above the sink while task lighting is provided by the two pendant light fixtures above the kitchen island.
