Plumbing : San Jose : Di-Electric Union : Di-Electric Coupler

Plumbing: Di-Electric Union

Plumbing – San Jose – Di-electric coupler

This article is part of a series, whose lead article is Plumbing 101.

This next phrase will be repeated a few times for emphasis, because it’s very important.

You can not directly connect a galvanized pipe to a copper pipe.

For some reason, they chemically and/or electrically corrode each other.

You can not directly connect a galvanized pipe to a copper pipe.

So you must place what is called a di-electric coupler in between them.

For those of you who know better, the picture is of a di-electric union, not a coupler, but the concept is the same.

What makes the di-electric device work is the galvanized directly touches brass, and the copper directly touches brass, and that’s OK.

So no matter what be sure you under that…

You can not directly connect a galvanized pipe to a copper pipe.

When you need piping work (such as to rid your home of galvanized pipes), we would love an opportunity to be of service – please contact us for your no obligation consultation.
