Plumbing – Sunnyvale – Pressurized Water In
This article is part of a series, whose lead article is Plumbing 101.
The water for your home comes into your home under pressure from your water company.
The pressure is usually more than sufficient to send the water anywhere it needs to go, even if you live or work near the top of a high rise.
In fact, most homes have a pressure regulator installed (the somewhat bell shaped device in the bottom of the picture) to reduce the pressure to a proper level of between 40 to 60 PSI.
From this single pipe entering your home, water is distributed to all the points of use in your home.
Somewhere near the street is the water meter and valve that is owned and operated by your water company.
The pipe that runs from the meter to your main house valve is your water main.
The picture shows the main valve at the house end of the water main.
It’s important you know where this valve is in the event you ever have a plumbing emergency and need to shut off the water.
When you have plumbing work you need done, we would appreciate an opportunity to be of service – please contact us for a no obligation consultation.
