The prior post started a discussion on questions to ask when checking the references of contractors for your Santa Clara bath remodel. To start on the first page, select the link at the bottom of the page.
This post continues the list of reference check questions.
3) Did the contractor carry the legally required stuff?
Properly licensed? Insured? Were permits needed? Did they obtain them? How easy was it?
4) Were they punctual?
Did they show up on time? Were they considerate of your schedule? Did they clean up at the end of each day?
5) How was working with the crew and subs?
Were communications paths clear? Were they easy to approach and ask questions of? Were you happen with them? Did you receive lien releases from every subcontractor on the job?
6) How timely and clear were status updates?
Were you kept informed as to what was happening, where the project was, any issues found and resolved? When you asked questions were they welcomed?
7) Did the job come in within or under budget?
If not, why not? Were the change orders well documented and easy to understand?
8) Were you pleased with the finished outcome?
If not, why not? Did they comply with the contract and the design (assuming there was a formal design)? Did any inspections fail? What specifically fell short?
9) Would you hire them again?
If the answer is no, neither should you. If the home owner would hire them again, they are providing the highest testament available.
