Finally being able to get starting on your small bathroom remodel in Milpitas is exiting.
So let’s talk about bathroom flooring.
Different types and styles of flooring have different costs. As cost is an issue in almost all remodeling projects, let us assume it is an issue with yours.
In the discussions of flooring below, I talk about over the life span of your bathroom. Periodic maintenance requires you expend your time and or your money.
Always bear in mind that bathroom flooring must be more water resistant that flooring in any other room of the house, for obvious reasons.
The cheapest style is sheet vinyl. The cost varies between $5 and $10 a square foot installed depending upon the quality. Sheet vinyl is virtually maintenance free.
Ceramic tile will also run you between $10 to $35 a square foot (also installed) and has the maintenance requirements that the grout be resealed every 12 to 18 months. If you do it yourself this takes maybe half a day and $30 in materials.
Next up is natural stone tile. For this you can expect to pay between $7 to $100 a square foot (also installed) and has the requirement that periodically the entire surface must be resealed (again every 12 to 18 months). Expect to spend a full day (unless your bathroom is very large in which case it will take longer) and maybe as much as $100 in materials.
I have met people who want hardwood in their bathroom. If you insist on this, only consider bamboo and only consider the most expensive bamboo flooring product, because it’s solid bamboo and is the most durable. The product will cost maybe $9 to $15 a square foot but the installation will be less than tile or stone (about $20 a square foot).
Bamboo flooring has no specific maintenance needs per se, except you must clean up water right away. This is just simply a pain, but it’s doable.
