This post is part of a series about bathroom remodeling as well part of a sub-series about bathroom flooring options. To access either of the lead posts please select one of the links below.
The last few posts explained why natural hardwood is an OK choice for a wood floor in your bathroom, laminate is a terrible choice, and engineered wood is the best. This is due to the relative high quality of engineered wood.
The final post in this little series is about Bamboo, which is only available as an engineered wood product and is the absolute best choice for wood floors for bathrooms.
Bamboo is naturally water resistant due to what bamboo is. Because of the nature of bamboo, there is no such thing as wood plank flooring, the way you find with oak or cherry.
For both these reasons, when you need wood flooring in your bathroom, go with Bamboo. It’s a naturally water resistant wood fiber built in the form of an engineered wood product.
As stated above:
- Naturally water resistant
- Only comes as an engineered wood product
- Will last longer than any other form of wood flooring that is constantly exposed to water, as your bathroom floor will be.
- It’s a bit pricey
When you want wood flooring in your bathroom, as far as I’m concerned you only have one true choice, and that is bamboo. If bamboo is too expensive for your product, wood is too expensive.
