My last post was about why you should never install laminate wood flooring in a bathr0om. It’s a future rather sizable repair job waiting to happen.
So why then am I so keen on engineered wood flooring for bathrooms? Aren’t they similar?
While they are similar in concept, they are quite different in how they’re made. The advantage of engineered wood over laminate can be summed up in one word, and that word is quality.
Most laminate wood flooring products are of lower quality because the manufacturer is targeting a lower price point. Laminate is find for dry rooms. Living room, family room, hallways, yes. Bathroom and kitchens, no. Where there is likely to be water on the floor, you do NOT want laminate.
However, wood floors are great. They look great and they feel great on bare feet. If you really want wood floor in your bathroom there is a great solution, and it is called Bamboo.
Bamboo only comes as an engineered wood product, and in addition to the higher quality of engineered wood over laminate, bamboo is naturally water resistant and as such is the perfect style of wood flooring for bathrooms (and kitchens).
