Wall Mount Faucets
This post is part of a series about bathroom remodeling (we service the greater San Jose CA metro area), as well as part of a sub-series on bathroom faucets. To access either of the lead posts please select one of the links below.
Wall mount faucets are named this because (surprise, surprise) they mount on the wall, rather than through the sink or the countertop.
Although they are amongst the prettiest and most functional faucets available, the way the install (where much of the faucet is behind the wall) makes them very difficult to replace when the time comes, and the time always comes, sooner or later.
You know those little valves under the sink that let you turn off the water to just this one sink when you need to? These faucets don’t have any. So if you ever do need to temporarily turn off the water to just this one faucet, you can’t. You must instead turn off the water to the entire house.
So although generally I love anything that gets stuff off the floor or off the countertop (and these faucets certainly do), I dislike future maintenance that is “more than necessary”.
For that reason and for that reason alone I recommend people not install these faucets in their bathrooms.
On the other hand, if you feel this is a suitable trade off, if un-cluttering your countertop is a really high priority for you, this is the type and style of faucet for you.
The images below show different variations on the same theme, so you get an idea of the full set of options available to you.
