The Solera Group provides expert bathroom remodeling services in the greater San Jose metro area.
Why? Because those darn things weight between 250 and 350 pounds and it needs to be put in place with some precision. For a claw foot tub it has to line up with the drain properly, and for an alcove tube it has to be fitted well into an alcove, which is quite difficult for a 300 pound tub.

This is because of the extra effort required to get it in place. I’ve spoken to other contractors who had to rent cranes in order to lift cast iron tubs in through second story windows.
At the very least, on the day the tub is being installed you’ll need 4 guys, rather than the usual 2.
With one decision you can both save money and make your contractor happy! Do not have a cast iron tub installed!
Need a sturdy claw foot tub? They come in stainless steel.
