Small Bathroom Remodel Ideas | Contractor Communication Status Updates

Determine how your contractor will update you and how often

This post is one in a series on remodeling small bathrooms and part of a sub-series on how to evaluate and select your contractor. For either of the lead posts, please select one of the links in the prior sentence.

Effective communications between your remodeling contractor and yourself includes regular status updates from the contractor on the progress of your project.

The Solera Group provides expert bathroom remodeling services in the greater San Jose metro area.

There needs to be a common understanding between you and your contractor relative to how and how often project status updates will be provided, so you need to talk about this as part of the planning process.

It’s important you and your contractor be comfortable with the same pattern.

If you want daily updates (as I would) you need to say so. If for whatever reason that does not work for the prospective contractor, they may not be the right contractor for you.

On the other hand, if you want only to be provided with “exceptions” when a decision is needed and you work off the philosophy that you’ll be pulled in when and as needed, you may feel that daily updates are too much.

What matters here is that you and your contractor be in sync.

This aspect of the project is so important, I recommend it be written into the contract. That way there are no mis-understandings and expectations that will not be realized.
