Glass Bathroom Countertops
This post is part of a series about bathroom remodeling (we service the greater San Jose CA metro area) as well as part of a sub-series about bathroom counter tops. To access either of the lead posts please select one of the links below.
Glass bathroom countertops are what you might expect. Thick, transparent, and colored.
In the spirit of full disclosure, none of our clients have ever wanted one, and as such I’ve never actually seen one, so one question I have about them remains unanswered, at least to me.
And that is, can you see all the way through them? If yes, then the substrate beneath them needs to be something worth seeing and can not “just” be plywood or fiberboard (actually fiberboard might create an interesting visual effect).
The advantages of glass are:
- It’s unique. The odds are none of your friends have one yet.
- It’s durable.
- It’s low maintenance (if you follow this blog you know that is of major importance to me).
I know of no disadvantages except (perhaps) due to the relative uncommonless of them, they’re probably more expensive than granite or marble.
As you can see from the pictures below (along with the one in the top right) glass countertops come in different looks.
If you’re the trend setter in your neighborhood, glass countertops are for you.
