This post is part of a series about bathroom remodeling (we service the greater San Jose CA metro area) as well as part of a sub-series about vanities and sinks. To access either of the lead posts please select one of the links below.
Drop In Sinks
The sink in the image to the right is a drop in sink. It is so called because during installation you cut a hole in the top of the vanity, you order a counter top that has the right size hole in the right place, then you “drop in” the sink from above, hook up the plumbing, the caulk it in place.
What do I love about drop in sinks? As a contractor I love that they’re so easy to install. Gravity holds them in place while I make the connections.
What do I not love about drop in sinks? As a homeowner I like the transition from the counter top to the sink to be flat. Drop in sinks by definition have a lip. Because of the lip I can not simply sweep water from the counter top into the sink with my hand.
That probably doesn’t excite you as much as it excites me, but a drop in sink without a lip between the counter top and the sink.
Does it get any better?
