Do you know anyone who has hardwood flooring installed somewhere and they feel it’s important to wipe up any spills immediately?
Such hardwood flooring would be a bad idea for your bathroom. However, not all hardwood flooring is that sensitive. The different is some in the type of wood and some in the finishing.
If you want hardware flooring in your bathroom, just be sure to install one that is very moisture resistant. They do exist.
- Easy to clean.
- The patterns gives you a natural stripe pattern, which you can use to visually elongate one dimension in your bathroom (it is just an optical illusion, but it works).
In fact, better than natural hardwood is engineered wood, especially bamboo (as bamboo has natural water resistant properties even unfinished).
- More costly than tile.
- Requires periodic resealing which MUST be done as soon as it’s needed. Over time the finish will wear off high traffic areas and where there is no finish there is no protection from water.
