Now we’re going to talk about showers:
The Solera Group provides expert bathroom remodeling services in the greater San Jose metro area.
In essence, the hot water in and the cold water in both go into something behind the wall called (not surprisingly) a shower valve. In the valve the amounts of hot and cold are determined and the combined flow goes up and comes out the shower head.
What is meant here is custom built or single piece shower pans. If you have an odd size or shape, you will custom build a pan and create the moisture barrier via hot mop or the use of the proper rubber membrane. Single piece pans are water tight due to how they’re made.
Options for the Walls
The walls are typically some form of tile or an engineered stone product. You can get acrylic kits that are conceptually like engineered stone, but much cheaper and less durable.
