There are a few different styles of shower heads. The one portrayed in the image is what is called rain style (which is how the one on the left is being operated) with a waterfall operation.

We all know of this one so there is no need for explanation.
These are the shower heads where you can change the nature of the stream, generally by rotating a dial on the shower head. Some streams are like a regular shower head, some of very forceful, some pulse. These are useful when you want variety.
As the name implies these shower heads are on a flexible pipe and can be removed from the bracket that holds them and held in your hang. These are useful for directly the water to whatever body part you want.
I personally love these. There are very large shower heads where the water comes out in a large pattern, almost as if it’s raining within a 12 inch or 18 inch circle. The water expands into a larger circle as it falls.
Low flow shower heads no longer mean low power. I’ve been surprised by the force of the water stream from some low flow heads that are now available.
