Natural Stone Makes the Best Showers
That is an opinion, not a fact, but it seems to be an opinion many people share with me.
Primarily because it’s both looks good and feels good.
The Solera Group provides expert bathroom remodeling services in the greater San Jose metro area.
It pleases us both visually and tactilely (dictionary.com says that’s a real word).
This is really only true of the porous stones, like travertine and slate. The highly polished stones such as marble and granite do not have the same natural stone feel, even though they are in fact natural stone.
What makes them both look good and feel good is that they are porous. This slight unevenness in the surface causes it to not reflect light and to feel good against any part of the body. Your feet, your torso, your hangs.
This very quality of being porous also makes natural stone higher maintenance than other options. Specifically they need to be resealed every 12 to 18 months and if you forget or decide to skip this to save money, you may regret it.
By virtue of being porous, they allow water to enter. What prevents the water from entering is the sealing of the stone, not the stone itself.

If beauty and elegance is your main goal, natural stone is the way to go. However is low maintenance is your main goal, other options will serve you best.
