Stainless Steel Bathroom Countertops
This post is part of a series about bathroom remodeling (we service the greater San Jose CA metro area) as well as part of a sub-series about bathroom counter tops. To access either of the lead posts please select one of the links below.
When you think of stainless steel countertops you probably think of high hygiene environments such as hospitals and commercial kitchens. You probably think ugly.
It’s not necessarily so. Within this post are three pictures of stainless still countertops. Two with built in sinks (which is how I would do it) and one with an undermount sink that adds a color contrast to the appearance.
Why would anyone want a stainless steel countertop?
The main reasons are low maintenance, ease of cleaning, and ability to keep hygienic.
As in never, ever. Maybe it could be dented and would need to be replaced, but in terms of regular maintenance there is none. Ever!
Ease of cleaning
A squirt of some disinfectant cleaner and you’re done. No grout lines, no hidden pits, no nothing.
There is a reason why hospitals and commercials use stainless steel countertops, and this is it. They can be disinfected better and easier than any other surface. More so than engineered stone, which comes in second.
So what’s not to like?
Because they’re not very common, fairly few places make them, and they’re a bit pricey. Prices vary per size, shape, etc, so please shop around.

Personally I really like the next picture. I think the dual vanity with the two sinks and the faucets coming out of the wall is a very classy look and very functional.
I’m not so enamored of this next one. I think if you’re going with stainless to go with stainless. The white does provide a color contrast, but it’s white on stainless. A bit too bright for me.
