Bathroom Single Handle Faucets
This post is part of a series about bathroom remodeling (we service the greater San Jose CA metro area), as well as part of a sub-series on bathroom faucets. To access either of the lead posts please select one of the links below.
As the name implies, what gives the single handle faucet it’s name is the fact that every control (water temperature as well as flow rate) is controlled by a single handle.
Generally (maybe always) the temperate is determined by a side to side motion while the flow rate is determined by a front to back motion.
The greatest advantage of this faucet is the ability to operate them with one hand.
The valve mechanism is mostly the ball type valve, which is very reliable, and more expensive ones use the disc type valve which is SUPER reliable (I don’t think they ever break).
As you can see in the images below, a variety of styles, look, and finishes are available and you can even get ornamental ones that look like swans or dragons or whatever.
Not only are the very functional, they’re more reliable than faucets with two handles because the ball and or disc valve mechanism is just plain better.
