Bathroom Remodeling: Costly Mistakes to Avoid
Don’t forget to reduce future water use
Clean water costs and in the future it is likely to cost more. Now that you’ve committed to your bathroom remodel, do not forget to check out and select low flow and low water consumption devices.
Low flow shower heads are much better today than they were only a few years ago. Some are so good you would not know they’re low flow without being told.
Dual flush toilets (half flush for liquid waste, full flush for solid waste) have come way down in price.
Low flow faucets as well as faucets that shut themselves off (like you find in public restrooms) are also more available and better than before.
The Solera Group provides expert bathroom remodeling services in the greater San Jose metro area.
If your budget allows, consider going so far as to put in a gray water system so you water your garden with water that goes down your tub, shower, and sink drains. Not only are you able to use this water twice, your plants like it better (the dirt you and your family wash off provides nutrients for your plants).
When you’re tearing the bathroom down to the studs and the subfloor and need to make plumbing changes anyway, that is the time to implement future water savings.
