Bathroom Remodeling: Costly Mistakes to Avoid
Do not skimp on quality materials
We’ve all heard the saying “You get what you pay for”. That is true in many aspects of life, and is also true relative to selecting and buying materials for your bathroom remodel. It does not pay to skimp on quality materials (where quality is defined a durable and low maintenance).
While you might balk today at the cost of engineered stone for your shower pan, shower surround and countertop, a decision to go with less expensive tile today might cost you greatly in the future in various maintenance tasks (and I’m strictly talking about dollars, not about inconvenience and aggravation).
Quality materials that remain durable over time require less future maintenance and future maintenance costs real money.

Don’t forget you may want changes in the future
Sooner or later we all decide that surrounds we’ve become accustomed to can benefit from a freshening up. You may also decide it’s time to change your color scheme.
This brings up a useful and tangible example in thinking about tomorrow. When you incorporate a color scheme into the big items of your bathroom remodel (tub, shower, flooring, countertop, etc), changing the color of them is costly. However if you choose neutral colors for those items, you can change inexpensively change the colors of the walls, window coverings, towels, etc, for every little money.
Do you have toddlers today? They’ll be teenagers before you know it. So maybe you install a simple Thomas the Tank Engine shower curtain across the bath today, and you change to a frameless shower door later.
