Bathroom Remodeling: Costly Mistakes to Avoid
Don’t buy products online without seeing them
I personally have mixed feelings about this, for while you can save money buying items (toilets, faucets, light fixtures, etc) online, you never know exactly what you’re getting until you see them. That is where local shops and local show rooms come on. On the one hand I fully understand the need to save money where you can on expensive remodel projects, if everyone uses the local showrooms to look and touch but not to buy, they won’t be around much longer.
Having said that, the only way to know what something really looks like is to see it, so visit shops where you can, even if those shops are Home Depot or Lowe’s.

Don’t forget about storage
Most of us just love an open design with wall mount vanities that don’t touch the floor and even wall mount toilets that don’t touch the floor as this style of design gives your bathroom a very open feel.
However, your bathroom stuff has to be stored somewhere. Your towels, wash cloths, band-aids, tooth paste, make up, moisturizing creams, and cleaning supplies all have to live somewhere so you can find them when you need them.
Depending upon what phase of life you’re in, you may need more storage space in the future (if you have toddlers now you’ll have teenagers some day), or less (if you have teenagers now you’ll have an empty nest later).
If you have the ability to store your stuff in a closet just outside the bathroom, great! If not, you may have to give a little on that open design.
Figure out what bathroom storage space you need and factor it into your plan.
