Remodeling your small bathroom?
You don’t want the bathroom to feel to crowded and busy, but you still need all your stuff and places to store your stuff, etc.
As with all of life, it can sometimes take a little thought to figure out what the right trade offs are.
The Solera Group provides expert bathroom remodeling services in the greater San Jose metro area.
Tubs and/or Showers
If you need a tub because you don’t have another one in the house and/or you have toddlers who can not yet take showers, then you need a tub. However if you can forgo the tub (because you have one in another bathroom or you’re simply willing to never take baths) then having a walk in shower helps give your small room a feeling of being more spacious.
The tub skirt (that thing you step over to get in) creates more a visual block than a shower curb (also that thing you step over to get in).
If you’re bathroom is small and you can live without a tub, I suggest you do.
Did you know that keeping things off the floor makes any room feel larger? Did you also know there exist wall mount toilets that do not touch the floor?
Let there be no mistake, they cost more (and will require you move the toilet drain), but when you’re planning to enjoy your smaller bathroom for years to come, it’s worth it, isn’t it?
If you must have a floor mount toilet, know that not all toilets are the same size. You can get toilets where the center of the drain is 10 inches from the back wall, as compared to the standard 12. In a small room, that extra 2 inches is noticeable.
