Small Kitchen Remodeling: High Contrast Colors
When the square footage of your kitchen is what it is, and making it larger is not practical, you are required to use your space more efficiently.
This featured kitchen does just that. Everything you need is close by. The fridge is off the image to the left, the sink is in the island, while the range top and the over and across from the island.
The island cabinets provide storage access from each side.
The higher countertop on the island is suitable for activities (kids’ homework) or quick meals.
While there is a lot crammed into a smaller kitchen, what makes this work well is the high color contrast of this kitchen.
The floors are large beige tiles. The island counters are oak while the counters against the wall are off white. The countertops are black matching the black of the over and the black of the outer bit of the back splash design (the center part is a similar shade as the floor tiles). The appliances, including the range exhaust hood, are stainless steel.
The white pendant light fixtures both adds light as well as provides accent to the color contrast.
What ties there various and different colors together is the red of the walls. Now had you asked me if red walls would work to tie these high contrast colors together I would have had doubts, but as you can see in this image, it works great!
